The initiative, "Faces of Freedom" which includes a conference on a classic text of American literature, a symposium on the place of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. in American history, and reading and discussion programs for adult beginning readers.

Faces of Freedom will be wide-ranging, and reach a variety of audiences, at a conference on a classic text of American literature that raises issue in relation to freedom, to a symposium on the place of Martin Luther King in 20th Century American History, to reading and discussion programs for adult beginning readers on themes such as Freedom, Becoming American and Community.
