The program initiative, "Borders and Boundaries" which will explore American history, the priniciples of democracy through lectures, a special issue of Oregon Humanities magazine and teacher institutes.

OCH will help Oregonians examine how American history and culture reflect our notions of borders and boundaries—the imagined and real spaces that help us to, and keep us from, knowing one another. Borders and Boundaries will create opportunities to converse about and reflect on ideas of nation and state, race and class, and identity and community. These ideas are worthy of deep consideration, especially given our transnational world and the shifting expectations and realities that accompany it.
