a programmatic focus on "Liberty and Justice for All" that includes grants, a public symposium at Boston College on the topic "One Nation, Under God: The Role of Religion in American Public Life," a film and discussion series marking the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade, and "Picturing America" programming in public libraries that will also be downloadable.

In 2008/9, MFH will continue its "Liberty and Justice for All" initiative. We will 1) offer up to $10K (twice the limit of regular grants) for public humanities projects on the LJA theme 2) focus our annual symposium on the role of religion in our democracy 3) offer a film discussion series commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Federal abolition of the foreign slave trade and 4) design a thematic rotating schedule for public libraries to display and discuss the "Picturing America" images.
