To support the California Immigration Website and related materials for teachers and the general public; new media resources for young filmmakers on topics related to California Stories; for grants for young people and community projects related to California Stories; and for activities in California related to Picturing America.

California Stories: “How I See It” seeks to advance the humanities by bringing scholars into local projects that engage youth and their communities in using the humanities to examine their rich histories and experiences. Central to our programs is the use of digital visual media as a point of reflection upon the shared qualities and conditions of the human experience and on civic engagement and participatory democracy in a pluralistic society.
