Funding will support expansion of the Council's speakers bureau, development of a program to document personal and community histories, continued development of the Online Nevada Encyclopedia, and grants for projects in American and Nevada history.
Nevada Humanities requests We the People funding to support four programs in our FY 2010 program initiatives. These programs include: Humanities on the Road, a speakers' bureau that sends Nevadas college professors, writers, and other scholars throughout the state to provide Nevada's diverse communities with presentations and workshops on a variety of humanities subjects that include history, culture, and contemporary issues of importance to Nevadans; Hometown Nevada, a Nevada Humanities council conducted local history project that will bring Nevada Humanities staff and scholars to rural towns around the state to conduct a series of programs that will inspire and teach residents to document personal and community histories; the creation of written and media content for the Online Nevada Encyclopedia on the history of, and issues relating to, culture and environment in Nevada; and the American and Nevada history component of Nevada Humanities' ongoing regrant program.
