Humanities programming including panel discussions, a scholarly publication, and community grant program for the special initiative "Building Community by Celebrating Diversity."

"Building Community By Celebrating Diversity" is an initiative the Virgin Islands Humanities Council will launch in October 2009 to facilitate cultural exchange and dialogue among our diverse population with an aim to unify and rebuild our fragmented society. We will partner with several ethnic groups in the Virgin Islands to show how disciplines within the humanities can help promote common understanding among the people of our islands, through a Keynote Speaker; Panel Discussion with Facilitator; Invitation for Scholarly Papers; Culminating Performance Showcase; Website; and Request for Themed Proposals. The initiative will coincide with the Council's 25th anniversary of providing opportunities to enhance understanding and broaden perspectives of the human experience.
