The American Academy proposes to work in partnership with the NEH to sustain and extend the Humanities Indicators, a set of statistical data about the humanities in the U.S. The purposed cooperative agreement will support 1) updating of the current suite of Indicators; 2) publication of findings of second round of the Humanities Departmental Survey; 3) identification and analysis of additional datasets for the dual purpose of enhancing existing indicators and developing new indicator items; and 4) forging of a new research agenda to fill gaps in the national humnities database and permit the expansion of the Indicators.
