William J. Hennessey (Project Director: May 2003 to November 2007)

Endowment for the position of Museum Conservator and conservation programs for the public; renovation of conservation facilities.

The Chrysler Museum of Art respectfully seeks a National Endowment for Humanities Challenge Grant in the amount of $500,000 to be matched 4:1. The Challenge Grant and its match will support the Chrysler Museum's Collection Care Initiative, a $2.5 Million program which is, in turn, part of a $35 Million Capital Campaign in which the Museum is currently engaged. The initiative will create an endowment to support the salary of the Museum's Conservator. A second endowment will provide income to fund an innovative program of conservation education in a humanities context. An additional $500,000 will enable the Museum to renovate existing facilities to accommodate these programs and to acquire essential conservation equipment.
