Endowment for the technological infrastructure for a website that will serve as an electronic portal into the society's manuscript collections and research library.

The purpose of the Online Access Endowment is to provide a stable source of revenue to enable electronic delivery of NEHGS' unparalleled collections of family and local history materials. Specifically, income from the endowment will support the almost continual hardware and software upgrades necessary to build our website -- NewEngland Ancestors,org. With $2 million in total assets, the Online Access endowment will provide NEHGS approximately $90,000 per year towards these costs. Endowment income is more secure than our sources, and would provide the kind of ongoing financial support needed to preserve online delivery as a permanent feature of our service to the scholarly community and the public.
