Scott Stevens (Project Director: November 2005 to March 2012)

Renovation of an historic barn to serve as a visitor center, and endowment for humanities staff and programming.

Old York Historical Society seeks a $500,000 Challenge Grant from the NEH to support the Heritage Education Initiative. The goals of the initiative are to strengthen and expand the museum's education programs; to increase the number, scale and quality of the exhibitions; to serve a larger audience; and to enhance visitor services, orientation and amenities. The Heritage Education Initiative grew from a strategic planning effort initiated in 2001 and supports the museum's vision, which seeks to provide more people with the opportunity to explore and appreciate the museum's rich architectural, artifact and archival collections, while ensuring its long-term ability to support intellectual development in the humanities.
