Julie Anne Chase (Project Director: May 2010 to December 2014)

Endowment of a variety of humanities programs including a lecture series, mobile outreach, traveling exhibits, and collaborative initiatives.

The Dane County Library Service (DCLS), comprised of 27 libraries, will mount an endowment campaign resulting in $2 million dedicated to strengthening the system and humanities programming. The endowment campaign will build upon an unprecedented decade of growth, both in capital improvements and collections enrichment. The Humanities Endowment Fund has the following goals: Allow member libraries, both individually and collaboratively, to offer a rich variety of public humanities programming. Build upon already substantial collections and programs for patrons of all ages. Craft new partnerships with county humanists and humanities programs. The DCLS consortia will work closely with the Madison Community Foundation to undertake this multi-year campaign. Annual efforts funded by the $95,000 endowment yield will create new humanities programming at public libraries, large and small, rural and urban, across Dane County.
