Endowment for two education positions and related programs; direct funds for software development for humanities resources.

The University of Michigan Museum of Art seeks a Challenge Grant of $500,000 to be matched with $1.5M in private contributions for "Dynamic Humanities Connections at UMMA"--an initiative to secure dedicated leadership support and annual project funds for an enhanced humanities learning environment at the Museum--a key plank of the $40M campaign UMMA will launch in fall 2013 as part of a comprehensive U-M fundraising campaign. The $2M Challenge Grant will be an important catalyst for cementing endowment commitments for two key education team positions, as well as for the ongoing development of new humanities resources, which deepen understanding of cultural diversity, tradition, and creativity; connect with contemporary questions and concerns; and bring the next generation of scholars and patrons into the Museum--both onsite and via new technology-based interpretive tools, social media, and other community-focused strategies that offer visitors deeper and more varied connections.
