Endowment for a humanities teaching lab, a faculty research collective, a research apprenticeship program , and partial salary for a program coordinator for the humanities center..
The Miami University Humanities Center seeks a $500,000 NEH Challenge Grant as part of a new $2.9 million endowment. The endowment will ensure the Center's long-term viability and support a new architecture for cross-disciplinary inquiry among Humanities scholars and students. Building on our highly successful Altman Fellows Program which an external review of the Center recently called a national model for vertically integrated Humanities research and teaching we now wish to add three programs: 1) the Humanities Teaching Lab; 2) the Faculty Research Collective; and 3) a Research Apprenticeship Program. This trio of programs is the result of significant study, discussion, and planning. Together, they will forge new scholarly alliances; establish a fresh model for high-impact interdisciplinary team-teaching; foster mutually beneficial partnerships between advanced and novice researchers; and help cultivate a new generation of scholar-leaders.
