We the People Challenge grant to expand humanities programs at Stenton

FAIN: CZ-50172-08

Stenton Museum (Philadelphia, PA 19103-6308)
Stephen George Hague (Project Director: February 2007 to September 2008)
Dennis Pickeral (Project Director: October 2008 to November 2012)

Endowment for humanities programs; partial funding for a project coordinator; and scholarships and transportation costs for underserved students.

Stenton, NSCDA/PA, an historic house museum in Philadelphia, requests $300,000 to secure long-term improvements that will support and enhance our national award-winning humanities activities, principally the national award-winning History Hunters Youth Reporter Program in American history for 4th and 5th grade students. The challenge grant funds will be used to build Stenton's capacity directly, and the capacity of its Historic Germantown partner sites indirectly, by providing additional endowments that will generate income for expanded program activities. Endowment income will be used to partially fund a Project Coordinator staff position, and will pay for Humanities scholarships and critical transportation costs to allow expanded access to our programs, especially for underserved schools in Philadelphia.
