Leech Lake Tribal College (Cass Lake, MN 56633-3115)
Beverly Rodgers (Project Director: February 2011 to September 2013)
Sharon M. Marcotte (Project Director: September 2013 to March 2016)

To construct a new library for the college including an archive for Ojibwe cultural artifacts.

Leech Lake Tribal College will construct a new 10,000 square-foot library and archive to replace the tiny, inadequate 920 square-foot existing library. The new facility will allow the LLTC library's full collection to be displayed for the first time, and will provide additional space for future collection growth. The archive will be built to appropriate standards for climate and humidity control in order to protect and preserve LLTC's special collection. The college will partner with the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe to archive many of its important historical documents as well. In addition to the library and archive, the building will house LLTC's Learning Center and peer tutoring program, create space for group and individual research and study, provide space for indigenous authors and artists to present and interpret their work, and promote informal, humanities-related community activities including a weekly Ojibwe language table.
