Luther College requires consultant advice in evolving a new vision of the role of classical studies by determining their proper place in the humanities curriculum, by suggesting curricular and methodological adjustments and fostering discussion among members of the humanities division with the goal of identifying common aims and interests in the several departments of the humanities. The college has experienced a decline in classical studies and the number of faculty in the Classical Department has been reduced. There is controversy among humanities faculty over the role the Classics Department should play in the humanities curricula. Consultant help is resolving this problem as well.
