The development of five website modules on the life of Helen Keller in the social and cultural context of her era.

This partnership brings Keene State College, Straight Ahead Pictures, and the Hampshire Education Collaborative together to produce 5 modules of education materials that will place the life and legacy of Helen Keller into the social and cultural context of her era. The modules will use an interdisciplinary humanities approach to develop enhanced content for primary source materials. These materials will facilitate placing Keller within several commonly taught curriculum frameworks. The project uses the humanities to understand issues about disability, history, media, celebrity, philanthropy, history, gender and class, and the history of the human rights movement. The materials will be created in a digital format that can be filtered for higher education and secondary school users, by faculty and students. The work will be nationally disseminated in conjunction with a new biography of Keller being produced for public television broadcast.
