Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design will develop a joint film studies program. The integrated curricula will enable humanities students who are concentrating in film studies to gain practical knowledge of cinematography. At the same time, students whose cheif oreientation has been visual and non-conceptual will be introducted to advanced cognitive procedures in film studies and semiotics. This program will enable the student to fully test his theoretical procedures against the physical limits of cinematography and will equip him to make choices about his educational or professional training.
