An oral history project on Finish Folklore and Social Change in the Great Lakes Mining Region. The purposes are (1) to preserve the songs, stories, myths, and history of the Finnish people who immigrated to the Great Lakes Region between 1890-1920; and (2) to provide students of the economically depressed area with an understanding of the ethnic heritage of the largest group in the area and insight into the tradition from which many students came.
