To sponsor a two-week summer institute on Afro-American culture from 1845 to 1860 and 1945-1960. The 30 participants will be selected with emphasis on community colleges, colleges with predominantly black enrollments, urban colleges, and colleges with limited research resources in Afro-American culture.
