To support Yale's Doctor of Fine Arts program in criticism and dramatic literature. Approximately 5 students a year are admitted to the three-year program which develops scholar-intellectuals to function as drama critics, literary managers for resident theater companies, drama editors, and teachers of drama editors, and teachers of dramatic literature and theatre history.
