A three-week institute for twenty-four college and university faculty members to study Etruscan and early Roman culture.

The Community College Humanities Association (CCHA) requests funding to support a three week (June 5 - June 25, 2012) NEH Summer Institute for twenty-four faculty from community colleges and four-year universities on the topic “The Legacy of Ancient Italy: The Etruscan and Early Roman City. Seven visiting scholars, all of whom are in the forefront of the newest research in Italian archaeology, art history, ethnography, history and literary study, will conduct seminars and extensive on-site field study. We are eager to extend the Italian experience and the opportunity to make available new scholarship on the culture, history, art and archaeology of early Italy to interested participants. CCHA’s Institute experience includes successful on-site NEH Institutes, three on “Maya Worlds," and one on “Alaska and Native Cultures of the Pacific Northwest." Each of these previous institutes attracted a large number of applicants, each has earned detailed and evaluations by participants.
