A three-week summer institute for twenty-five college and university faculty on the history and cultural expression of American Muslims.
The goal of this summer institute is to catalyze the study and teaching of the Muslim presence in the United States. It will do so first, through an intensive three-week program of study in Washington, D.C. for twenty-five college and university teachers and advanced graduate students who will use this experience to develop new or revise existing courses; and second, through the development of a multimedia website that will be available to educators in the United States and abroad. By developing and disseminating resources for the study of American Muslims, this summer institute seeks to promote the goals of the NEH Bridging Cultures Initiative.
