Project to product four 26 minute 16mm color films for use in high school, college and university humanities programs, educational TV, on Indian classical music. ABSTRACT: Project to product four 26 minute 16mm color films for use in high school, college and university humanities programs, educational TV, on Indian classical music. Films designed to portray four major ragas, a traditional melodic form in Hindu music, within the context of the total Indian culture, showing the interdependence of music and dance, and their relation to Indian philosophy and religion. Project designed to counteract over-emphasis on Western humanistic studies in traditional American college humanities courses, and the current distortion in Western popular music of Indian classical forms.
