To provide release time for faculty members, furnish course developers with teaching assistants, etc., in order to establish and administer an interdisciplinary undergraduate major in East Asian Studies, which will boraden the base of students' education and promote dialogue within the faculty by using team-teaching and administrative unites composed of Eastern specialists and Western literature instructors and creative writers.
