The Special Program in the Humanities consists of 15 required courses to be taken in a specified sequence over a period of 7 semesters, and serves as a minor that can be taken in addition to a standard departmental major. The primary object of the program is to guide a group of selected students through a series of courses which will make them aware of the main lines constitution the intellectual evolution of the Western World, with an opportunity at the end to compare the high points of the occidental intellect with the East Asian.
