The Cultural Interaction of East and West

FAIN: EP-10224-75

New York University (New York, NY 10012-1019)
Horst W. Janson (Project Director: September 1975 to present)

To initiate an interdisciplinary undergraduate program exploring the flow of influence back and forth between Western civilization (Europe and America) and the great civilizations of Asia (Islam, Persia, India, China, Japan). The program is designed to demonstrate that East and West share not only a common present but a common past, and thereby to counterbalance the built in ethnocentricity of our present humanities curriculum.
