Civitas and Civilitas--Then and Now: An Interdivisional Study Program

The proposed course will consist of an experimental, two-semester inter divisional study program for seniors. Two historical models--the Late Roman Empire and Europe, 1450-1850 -- will be examined in a comparative study of values and institutions. The second semester will concentrate on the condition of man in the present world. The program will strengthen the humanities in a heavily science-oriented curriculum.
