Development of advanced Spanish course on role of social institutions in social change in Latin America. ABSTRACT: Development of advanced Spanish course on role of social institutions in social change in Latin America. Focus on physical environment of Latin American man, his socially devised arrangements for living in that environment, the realm of meaning and aspirations as expressed in his artifactes. Results in increased awareness of underlying social problems in Latin America, sharpened critical thinking in problem-solving, and increased fluency in Spanish. Problem-solving strategies used here influence ways students look at own social problems, and disciplines needed to solve them. Opportunity to explore evolution and development of social institutuions and values. Funds to develop, institute, evaluate course.
