Survey to Identify Reading Materials for Hispanic-American Children

Funds to develop a model project dealing with Mexican-American children. The objects of this study are to: 1) assess the nature and scope of reading materials now available in Spanish and/or English; 2) assess their relevancy for Hispanic-American childre; 3) develop approaches to bi-lingual materials, for readability and relevancy; 4) test efffectiveness of such materials in an East Los Angeles model project; 5) choose other communities for similar tests and 6) determine domestic and international sources to produce more materials.
