Barry Weller (Project Director: April 1975 to present)

To support an experimental course in ancient literature, "The Art of Ambivalent and Subversive Writing", for inclusion in the curriculum of the Department of Classics, Cornell University, and elsewhere. An intensive 6-week seminar for high school juniors taught by 3 classics professors will investigate the manner in which ancient and early modern authors chose to convey unpopular opinions on sensitive subjects. The course will be reported upon in an article in The Classical World, and other journals in the classics profession.
