Evolving Images of Man in East Asia

To offer two 12-day intensive institutes for college and high school teachers and a parallel 5-day institute for libraries. The goal of these institutes is to enable the participants to develop new courses dealing with East Asia and to introduce East Asian materials into existing courses (e.g. "World Literature"). The institutes will focus on literature, art and philosophy as human expressions, and provide an introduction to the concepts and materials in these area of East Asian thought sufficient to launch teachers in their own studies. The results of the institutes will he publicized nationally through the Asian Studies Professional Review and other journals serving teachers.
