FAIN: ES-50345-10

University of Dayton (Dayton, OH 45469-0001)
Richard P. Benedum (Project Director: March 2010 to June 2012)

A four-week school teacher institute in Vienna, Austria, for twenty-five participants to explore Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his German operas in their cultural and historical context.

The University of Dayton proposes an interdisciplinary Institute for 25 K-12 teachers, "Mozart's Worlds: Bridging West and East," to be given on June 20-July 15, 2011, in Vienna, Austria. Participants will be immersed in the history, literary traditions, and urban architectural environment which produced "The Abduction from the Seraglio" and "The Magic Flute", the two operas selected for the Institute, and will study the way they bridge the western world with Turkish and eastern settings.
