A series of workshops and activities for twelve faculty members to broaden their understanding of digital humanities and enhance their ability to use digitized humanities materials in the courses they teach.

Northern Virginia Community College proposes that the National Endowment for the Humanities fund a Faculty Humanities Workshop for 2007-2008. ?The Humanities in the Twenty-First Century? will enable twelve instructors at the college to investigate the impact of digital technologies on the study, expression and teaching of the humanities. In the fall of 2007, participants will meet with visiting scholars who will discuss the use of new technological forms in specific humanities projects. In the following spring, participants will work on individual projects in which they investigate ways to broaden their understanding and use of the digital humanities. As a result of this workshop, participants will have a better understanding of the digital humanities and be in a position to better use digitized humanities materials in their courses at the college.
