Study of culture, social structure and modernization of Iceland. Iceland smallest of developed societies and, though one of most modern and affluent societies, with full complement of national instititutions except military, virtually unknown to modern comparative sociology and social science. Emphasis of study on transformation of institutions and value systems under the imparct of advanced modernization. Fellow has written similar study of Sweden, Sweden: Prototype of the Modern Society.
