Research on the American Negro woman from the introduction of Negro female slaves into the English-speaking colonies to the present. Two basic questions: Who was the American Negro woman? What has been her status and role in US History. No previous full-length comprehensive treatment of subject. Deals with American Negro woman against total backdrop of US history. Many colleges and university are introducing African-American studies into curricula. African-American research literature, so fundamental to any organized study, has not kept pace with new programs being instituted. As dean of graduate school and professor of history, Fellow continues to teach one course along with administrative duties. Hopes to return to classroom full time within year to teach courses in Negro history.
