To write a story of the mind and reputation of Theodore Parker (1810-1860), radical Unitarian minister whose attacks on materialism, poverty, crime and slavery were heard by 3000 people a week during his prime. The study will involve comparison of Parker's vast writings with those of his contemporaries (Emerson, Channing, et. al.) as well as an analysis of his influence.
