The Crown and the Provincial Estates in Renaissance France

To undertake a study of the crown and the provincial estates in Renaissance France. The first part will describe the composition and functioning of each of the provincial estates and trace their development from the close of the Hundred Years War until the death of Henry III in 1589. The second part will deal with the efforts that were made during the reign of Henry IV and Louis XIII to change the nature of the Renaissance monarchy & establish an absolute regime by crusing the provincial estates and other semi-autonomous instituions.
