Plato's Social Philosophy

FAIN: FA-10774-74

Gregory Vlastos
Princeton University (Princeton, NJ 08540-5228)

To examine Plato's conception of Justice (in which a person's rights and priviliges depend on his intellectual capacities) and the social background that gave rise to this conception. To contrast this attitude with the concept of the theory of "natural" rights (which assumes the instrinsic and equal worth of each individual).
