This study will be concerned with such topics as the passing of the Age of Reason; the nature, stages, and breakdown of romantic ideologies, the rise of radical activism, and the like. Results of the research will include long articles on the 1840s in Russia and France, discussing in particular the relationships between the government and the educated public.
