To examine the Millenarian movement in various societies: its orgins, its active and passive stances, the consequences of the movement achieving widespread cultural respectability, its connection with apocalyptic beliefs, fear of catastrophe and expectation of imminent perfection, its manifestation in modern societies. This explanation of the survival of Millenarianism in today's world is critical to an understanding of modern man.
