To examine the literary history of poetry from the Enlightenment to Romanticism. To revise our present understanding of the literary history of this period by furnishing a broader perspective of how the Renaissance is joined to Neoclassical, Romantic and modernist trends by breaking down false distinctions between periods; and by analyzing the persistence of archaic and visionary ideas into the Enlightenment.
