To complete a study of the music of the English parish church, from before the Reformation until the present time. The focus of this study will be on the music with a view to discovery and objective , and then on an understanding of its relation to the lives of those who sang, played or heard it. There is a close connection at many points with early American music, and one of the objects of this study is to explore this relationship.
