The United States as a World Power, 1940-1969

FAIN: FA-11202-75

Theodore Draper
Unaffiliated independent scholar

To write a historical analysis of the U.S. as a world power from the beginning of WWII to the so-called Nixon Doctrine of 1969. P.I. will start with the defeat of France in 1940 because this marks the first great turning point after the political isolationism and military weakness of the previous decade. The year 1969 is chosen as the terminal date because the U.S. entered a period of relative decline.
