To examine the theological implications surrounding the urbanist projects of Paris from 1760 to 1870. The notion of Louis Napoleon during the 1850's,that Paris was the re-embodiment of Rome, will be examined--its roots and the reasons for its rise. The study will contribute to our understanding of the origins of totalitarianism its aesthetic symbols, its ways of arranging human space and time.
