To complete a fully documented, comprehensive study of the cultural, social and historical forces that led to the inception of Yiddish theatre and the various stages of its later development. The study, centrally focus, ed on the life and times of the most prominent Yiddish actor, Jacob Adler, will take in the entire course of this theatre from its beginning in 19th century Russia to the all important American years, when it became part of the cultural history of this country.
