To study urban society and economy of Ottoman Anatolia from 1600- I640. P.I. is using judicial records to illuminate aspects of the social and economic order, particularly urban organization, credit, women, minorities, and villagers. Project will also study the practice of the court, due process of law, uses made of the court, and local checks on the court.
