To write a literary biography of Alfred Tennyson, concerned with the study of his creative life and with the chronicle of his daily life. Grantee intends to show the seriousness of Tennyson's artistic intentions and the workings of the mind from which they sprung, to consider some of the aesthetic problems that occupied the Victorian poet, and to give a full picture of a life about which there is a great deal of new, interesting, and sometimes even startling information.
