To study the Chinese critical writings dealing with the great novels and dramas of the Ming and Ching periods with a view to uncovering their interpretative insights and their far-reaching theoretical inquiry. To develop these materials for teaching and scholarship which may bring this type of sophisticated type of criticism to hear on our interpretation of the major works of the Chinese tradition.
