A study of the thought of Jean-Paul in all its various dimensions, attempting to situate Sartre in relation to important intellectual tendencies, especially in recent French thought, investigating the relation between Sartre’s thought and his historical context. At the present there is no detailed and comprehensive work on Sartre’s thought and activities from the synthetic viewpoint of intellectual history.
